Q: Can any employee participate in the program?
A: Yes. All employees are eligible for the transit benefit program. Self-employed persons, independent contractors, partners in a partnership and two percent shareholders in an S-corporation are eligible for no more than $21 in deductions.
Q: Is my company required to make monthly purchases of fare media through the Transit Benefit Fare Program?
A: Although most companies tend to do their purchases on a monthly basis, others have done so quarterly. It is entirely up to your company to determine how it would like to set-up the program. However, monthly purchases are required for Chicago Card Plus.
Q: How can I pay for the order?
A: The Transit Benefit Fare Program offers a variety of payment options including checks, Visa MasterCard and ACH payment. We can help you determine the option that works for you.
Q: How is my order delivered?
A: A registered carrier who provides two-day delivery service. Clients are required to sign for their order upon receipt. New Chicago Card Plus Cards are mailed directly to the employee's home address.
Q: I want to distribute my purchases on the first of every month. When is the best time to place my order?
A: To guarantee delivery by the first of the month, your order should be postmarked no later than the 15th of the previous month. For the CTA Chicago Card Monthly Pass, the last date for guaranteed activation is the 10th of the month.
